About – David E. Blakeman

Greetings! I’m David E. Blakeman (BSc). Proud nerd and geek: based in the United Kingdom.

I’ve been a professional software developer for and been actively pursuing my interest in computer programming for .

My interests include investigating Open Data, computer programming, building and repairing computers, computer games, tabletop wargaming, martial arts, coastal and forest walks, UK war history especially the WW2 Enigma/Lorenz code breaking stories, reading fantasy & sci-fi novels, anime & manga, watching video game speedruns, listening to Heavy Metal music, playing with my Raspberry Pi and other cool tech, renewable energy, new scientific discoveries and deep sea exploration.

I do not currently consider myself an expert at statistical mathematics and certainly not a professional Statistician. However, I intend on improving these skills as I develop software for this site. So please do not presume my statistics are infallible. I’m also human so I’m bound to make a few mistakes along the way.

What

I investigate sources of Open Data and present it in an interactive, educational and hopefully interesting way. I shall endeavour to present my findings in a factual, neutral and non bias way. But I do not expect this to always be the case for all eyes.

When & Why

This site is my first public project and I’ve had a lot of fun putting it together from the ground up. One of my personal goals for building this site was to learn the Full Stack of skills for web development which has been extremely educational.

Now I wish to further investigate sources of Open Data because it is an ever growing resource that I do not feel is being anywhere near fully utilised.

I believe in the classic idiom that Human beings are not naturally equipped to understand statistics and massively less so when it comes to “Big Data”. As such I wish to illuminate this area of knowledge for a larger audience including myself.
